FIAT MAREA Rare

As of 2026 Q1, 343 FIAT MAREAs remain registered in the UK — a genuinely rare sight on today's roads. That's down from a peak of 1,848 in 2014 Q3 — only 19% of the high-water mark, a loss of about 1,505 cars. They're disappearing at roughly 21 a year (6.2% of what's left), a pace that would halve the survivors by around 2037 if it held — though in practice the last, most-cherished examples tend to linger far longer. Tellingly, 96% are declared SORN — kept off the road in garages and barns rather than driven, the signature of a car being looked after rather than used up.

About the MAREA

The Fiat Marea (Type 185) is a small family car produced by the Italian automaker Fiat from 1996 to 2007. Available as a saloon and an estate, the Marea models were essentially different body styles of Fiat's hatchback offerings, the Bravo and Brava. The Marea replaced the earlier Tipo-based Fiat Tempra, as well as the larger Croma. While the Fiat Stilo Multiwagon was the successor of the estate version, the Marea Weekend, the Fiat Linea replaced the saloon version in 2007. The car became officially available from 11 September 1996.
