NISSAN MAXIMA Rare

As of 2026 Q1, 188 NISSAN MAXIMAs remain registered in the UK — a genuinely rare sight on today's roads. That's down from a peak of 715 in 2014 Q3 — only 26% of the high-water mark, a loss of about 527 cars. They're disappearing at roughly 15 a year (8.2% of what's left), a pace that would halve the survivors by around 2034 if it held — though in practice the last, most-cherished examples tend to linger far longer. Tellingly, 74% are declared SORN — kept off the road in garages and barns rather than driven, the signature of a car being looked after rather than used up. In all, the NISSAN MAXIMA is rarer than 54% of the 2,429 UK car models we track.

The Maxima was marketed as an upscale alternative to the Altima and prior to 1993, the Stanza, distinguished by features such as a premium interior and V6 engine. Most Maximas were built in Oppama, Japan, until North American assembly began in Smyrna, Tennessee, for the 2004 model...
