OPEL KADETT Rare

As of 2026 Q2, 387 OPEL KADETTs remain registered in the UK — a genuinely rare sight on today's roads. Numbers are at their highest recorded level since the model first appeared in our data in 2014 Q3. Unusually, the numbers are actually rising — up 5 (1.3%) over the past year, as imports and barn-finds rejoin the register faster than cars leave it. Tellingly, 65% are declared SORN — kept off the road in garages and barns rather than driven, the signature of a car being looked after rather than used up.

About the KADETT

The Opel Kadett is a small family car produced by the German automobile manufacturer Opel from 1936 until 1940 and then from 1962 until 1991 (the Cabrio continued until 1993), when it was succeeded by the Opel Astra. Originally, the Kadett was Opel's smallest model; however, as it grew in size with each generation (ultimately competing in the European C-segment), the Opel Corsa became GM/Opel's entry-level model.
