PORSCHE CARRERA Uncommon

As of 2026 Q1, 1,907 PORSCHE CARRERAs remain registered in the UK — an increasingly uncommon sight on today's roads. That's down from a peak of 1,916 in 2025 Q3 — only 100% of the high-water mark, a loss of about 9 cars. Unusually, the numbers are actually rising — up 20 (1.1%) over the past year, as imports and barn-finds rejoin the register faster than cars leave it. Tellingly, 54% are declared SORN — kept off the road in garages and barns rather than driven, the signature of a car being looked after rather than used up.

About the CARRERA

The original Porsche 911 (pronounced nine eleven, German: Neunelfer) is a sports car made by Porsche AG of Stuttgart, Germany. A prototype of the design was shown to the public in autumn 1963. Production began in September 1964 and continued through 1989. It was succeeded by a modified version, internally referred to as Porsche 964 but still sold as Porsche 911, as are current models. Mechanically, the 911 was notable for being rear engined and air-cooled. From its inception, the 911 was modified both by private teams and the factory itself for racing, rallying and other types of automotive competition...
