DAIMLER · DAIMLER 5.3 · Cars
As of 2026 Q2, 62 DAIMLER 5.3s remain registered in the UK — one of the rarest cars in Britain on today's roads. That's down from a peak of 66 in 2019 Q4 — only 94% of the high-water mark, a loss of about 4 cars. Unusually, the numbers are actually rising — up 2 (3.3%) over the past year, as imports and barn-finds rejoin the register faster than cars leave it. Tellingly, 69% are declared SORN — kept off the road in garages and barns rather than driven, the signature of a car being looked after rather than used up. In all, the DAIMLER 5.3 is rarer than 64% of the 2,315 UK car models we track, putting it firmly in 2026's endangered class.
Genuinely rare — only 62 left on UK roads.

The Daimler armoured car was a successful British armoured car design of the Second World War that continued in service into the 1950s. It was designed for armed reconnaissance and liaison purposes. During the postwar era, it doubled as an internal security vehicle in a number of countries. Former British Daimler armoured cars were exported to various Commonwealth of Nations member states throughout the 1950s and 1960s. In 2012, some were still being operated by the Qatari Army.
As of 2026 Q2, 62 DAIMLER 5.3 were still registered in the UK — 19 licensed and on the road, plus 43 declared SORN (off-road). The figures come from official DVLA vehicle licensing data.
