As of 2026 Q2, 313 DAIMLER SUPER V8s remain registered in the UK — a genuinely rare sight on today's roads. That's down from a peak of 386 in 2014 Q3 — only 81% of the high-water mark, a loss of about 73 cars. They're disappearing at roughly 6 a year (1.9% of what's left), a pace that would halve the survivors by around 2062 if it held — though in practice the last, most-cherished examples tend to linger far longer. Tellingly, 55% are declared SORN — kept off the road in garages and barns rather than driven, the signature of a car being looked after rather than used up.
Rare — fewer than 1,000 remain (313 in the latest data).
Rarer than 48% of the 2,315 UK car models we track.
Disappearing at about 6 a year (1.9% of survivors). At that pace roughly 285 would remain in 5 years, and half the current fleet is gone by around ~2062.
The Daimler 2.5 V8/V8-250 is a four-door saloon which was produced by The Daimler Company Limited in the United Kingdom from 1962 to 1969. It was the first Daimler car to be based on a Jaguar platform, the first with a unit body, and the last to feature a Daimler engine after Jaguar bought the company from the Birmingham Small Arms Company in 1960. The 2.5 V8 was Daimler's most popular model. The engine is the hemispherical head V8 designed by Edward Turner and first used in the Daimler SP250 sports car.
